In EOS®, the People Analyzer® answers one question about each person: are they the right person in the right seat? The EOS People Analyzer is a single grid, with names down the side and the company's core values and GWC™ across the top. Each person is rated, then compared with a minimum standard the leadership team sets, called the Bar.
How is the People Analyzer scored?
- Core values: +, +/− or −. A plus means the person lives the value most of the time; a plus/minus, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't; a minus, most of the time they don't.
- GWC: yes or no. For their seat, do they get it, want it, and have the capacity to do it? No maybes, and all three must be yes. Not getting it or not wanting it is a deal-breaker; capacity can sometimes be built.
- The Bar. The leadership team sets the minimum. EOS's own example, for five core values: three pluses and two plus/minuses, no minuses, and a yes on all three of GWC. Anyone below the Bar needs action.
How do teams use it?
The leadership team rates itself first; then the exercise cascades down the organization. It's revisited every quarter (EOS pairs it with the Quarterly Conversation™) and appears on EOS's annual review form. Used well, a rating opens a conversation about specific moments rather than pinning a label on someone.
