A Same Page Meeting® is a monthly meeting between a company's two top leaders — the big-picture ideas person and the operator who runs the business day to day, whom EOS® calls the Visionary and the Integrator™ — or between any business partners or co-owners. It exists because when the people at the top disagree, everyone below them gets mixed messages. So they check in, lay every open issue on the table and work through the list, and the company hears one message.
What happens in a Same Page Meeting?
- Check in. Each person shares what's going on, personally and professionally.
- List the issues. Each person brings all the issues, concerns and ideas that have come up since the last meeting.
- Solve them. Work the list with IDS® (Identify, Discuss, Solve), ideally until nothing is left.
- Protect the time. Schedule it in advance, ideally away from the office. Disconnect from other work, and be completely candid.
How long, and how often?
EOS Worldwide's own articles describe a monthly meeting of about two hours. Other write-ups vary: you'll find two to four hours suggested, and at least one implementer recommends meeting every week or two. The term isn't in EOS Worldwide's online glossary, so expect some variation from one implementer to the next. What doesn't change is who's in the room: the two top leaders, or the owners, and nobody else.
